Do you choose the cards, or do the cards choose you...

At the time of writing, I am sitting at my table, the one I use for Tarot work. Its an old Edwardian table, large and oval with twisted legs. Upon my table are a number of boxes and within the boxes are a number of Tarot Decks, both old and new. I have in one, a set of cards that have been with me 30 years and they are my special deck. In another, I have a set of Rider Waite cards, and in yet another, I have my recent purchase; a set of the New Mythic Tarot Cards. Today, during a reading, I decided to use a new deck that I purchased with great zest and joy. Surprisingly, upon starting the reading I stalled, something was wrong...

Now, its a good job that I have put in the practise over the years, because I knew exactly what was wrong, and I know exactly how to treat the problem.

You see, the Tarot Deck that a reader uses is not always the Tarot Deck that they choose. The reader may be wowed by trends and intrigued by certain flavour of the month designs that are all the rage. However, when it comes to giving a reading, most readers have an affinity with a certain deck. It's as if one particular deck works so much better than any other. The deck seems to come alive for the reader and the reading is effortless with one particular deck in general. I feel sure, that I am not the only reader who feels this way. It is best summed up by some advice that I was given right back at the start.

You do not choose the Deck you use. It chooses you!!
